termula2x uses GP2X to run a UNIX terminal emulator on Windows. This program includes a vi text editor and it has background image support to give your terminal some style. This software was written almost entirely in the “C” programming language. The program is one of the better options out there as it still gets updated from time to time (unlike many other Unix terminal emulators that haven’t been updated in ages).

This open source Unix terminal emulator for GP2X software is free for commercial or personal use, so if you are looking to replace the built-in terminal that comes with Unix, we recommend giving this program a try. The setup file originated from SourceForge, and the latest version we are hosting is 0.3.0, which is from April 2013.

What is a terminal emulator you ask? It’s a program that runs on an operating system that provides the end user with a command-line interface in order to interact with the operating system at hand. Every operating system has a terminal that gives you great control and flexibility over the way files are structured on your hard drive. However, some of the built-in terminals only offer a limited amount of flexibility, and they usually offer little to no control over the look of the application. That’s where terminal emulators come into play. Developers usually create these terminal emulators to give people the ability to go above and beyond what the operating system’s built-in terminals can control.
